by Valerie Garner

Having healthy skin is about a lot more than just looking good. In fact, our skin is the largest organ in our body and it helps protect us from bacteria and infection. If our skin were unhealthy or damaged, our bodies would be susceptible to all kinds of problems.

Finding the best skin care will depend on properly identifying your type of skin. There are three basic types of skin: oily, dry and combination. In this article we will focus on the first two types.

Found out your Skin Type

In order to find out what type of skin you have, follow these steps. First, wash your face with a skin cleanser, rinse and pat dry. Wait for one hour and note whether your skin feels tight or not.

Next, press a separate piece of tissue paper on: the outer part of you cheeks, your chin, the center of your cheeks, your nose, the center of your forehead and the outer part of your forehead. Look at the tissue and check for oily residue or flaky skin residue.

You're considered to have dry skin if each tissue paper has flaky skin residue. You are considered to have oily skin if each piece of tissue paper has oily residue. Once you have discovered your skin type, you'll be ready to pick the right skin care routine, skin products, and acne products for your skin.
